Sheppard Scrapbooks
The original Sheppard scrapbooks and their index are available for research at the Research Center at the Yates County History Center in Penn Yan, New York. Contained here are searchable PDF images for the 2,000 plus pages in this collection. The fifteen scrapbooks are labelled A through M, Scraps, and No. 48 and contain mostly newspaper clippings from the very early 1900s through the early 1950s. Family and local history researchers are advised that much information on Yates County related births, marriages, deaths, and historical narratives and images are found in these resources.
The books were created by George S. Sheppard; his son, Oliver, worked on volumes M and No. 48 after George’s death. The Scraps volume contains many of Oliver Sheppard's drawings and advertising designs.
Users are advised to use a late version of Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat as other PDF readers may have problems searching these files.
